Not gonna lie. Reading about economics - especially the history of economics is kind of a slog. History books written in 1939 still contain untranslated Latin (thank you Google Translate) - and like to spend quite a bit of time putting the bibliography in the text.
On the other hand - getting books from the Library in 1939 was much more of a challenge, so putting more of the books you had read in the book you were writing to make your point made sense.
